Interview: Hate in the Home

  • William Allchorn
  • June 27, 2019

‘In a recent Reveal podcast, CARR Senior Fellow, Professor Megan Squire, talked to host Al Letson about her research on the radical right’s use of social media and the internet. As large social media platforms start to take radical right groups and influences off their platforms, Professor Squire talks about a new array of Alt Tech used by the Christ Church attacker (among others) to spread their messages but also evade detection. Other features of note in this podcast include Al Letson’s own exploration of how comic books are being weaponized by the far right to spread the message of white supremacy and Pastor Mike McBride’s experiences of engaging with white supremacist movements.’

Professor Megan Squire is a Senior Fellow at CARR, and Professor of Computer Science at Elon University in North Carolina, USA. See her profile here.
