Vinícius Bivar is a PhD candidate in Modern History at the Freie Universität Berlin. His research,  funded by the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD), examines the cooperation between Nazi Germany and the regime of Getúlio Vargas in Brazil against communism as well as the circulation of anticommunist ideas between the two countries during the 1930s. In 2019, he conducted part of his research as a Doctoral Fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC.

Vinícius holds and MA in Modern European History, Politics and Society from Columbia University and a BA in History from the University of Brasília. In addition to his research, Vinícius also writes for academic and non-academic outlets on current affairs with a focus on 21stcentury radical right movements in Germany and Brazil.
