Upcoming PhD/Post-Doc Positions

The Department of Sociology at Umeå University (Sweden) is hiring a new PhD student. The successful applicant will join a team of junior and senior researchers studying how manifestations of prejudice (broadly defined) evolve over time.

We welcome applications that propose research on attitudes, ideologies, or behavioral manifestations of prejudice, such as discrimination, intergroup conflict, violence, or support for specific political movements or political parties. Current studies within the program tend to focus on anti-immigrant sentiment and opposition to immigration, but sexism, ageism, racism, religious intolerance, and anti-LGBT views also fall under this theme. Current projects within the program analyze the evolution of prejudice at three different analytical levels: within individuals over time, between individuals over time, and within and between countries over time. Whether applicants propose to study prejudice at the individual- or societal-level, research proposals must include a longitudinal perspective.
